This week, year 12  A-level Law students have been investigating the Yorkshire Ripper case and deciding if Peter Sutcliffe was mad or bad? Was he guilty of murder or did he have diminished responsibility? It’s an interesting case as the courts originally decided that he was ‘bad’ and guilty of murder. On appeal, he was found to be schizophrenic and sent to Broadmoor, a secure mental hospital. Twenty five years later,  he was returned to prison with no evidence of schizophrenia.
Year 13 are currently studying how a valid contract is formed and what rights they have as a shopper. Did you know that you are only legally entitled to a refund if there is something wrong with the products and you return them within 30 days?  Most shops will have an exchange policy but that is their decision and not a legal right.
